SIP vs LUMPSUM: Investing Uncle’s Guide for Investors
Investing Uncle’s Guide for Investors
Bunny and Investing Uncle Sitting in Balcony
Chai cups on table. Bun maska in hand and a question in the air.
Bunny: “Uncle... I have a doubt.
We can invest in mutual funds, means we can buy mutual fund Units in two ways na?
1. SIP
2. Lumpsum
What are they, may you please explain?
Investing Uncle:
You are right, Bunny Bro.
Mutual funds me investment karne ke yeh do tareeke hain:
1. SIP – Systematic Investment Plan
2. Lumpsum – Investing a large amount of money at one time
Bunny:
Uncle, Sab log bolte rehte hain - SIP is best, SIP is safe. But kya hota hai yeh SIP?
Investing Uncle:
SIP matlab har mahine thoda thoda paisa mutual fund mein daalna.
Jaise EMI bharte ho, kuch-kuch waise hi - har month ₹1,000, ₹5,000, ₹10,000 jo bhi afford kar sakte ho.
Automatic deduction, automatic investment, just mandate one time, no stress.
Tum job karo, shaadi karo, Goa jaao, SIP chup-chap chalta rehta hai.
Bunny:
Matlab thoda thoda invest karna?
Investing Uncle:
Yes,
“Kabhi market upar, kabhi neeche - but you are investing every month.
When the market is down, zyada units milenge.
When market is up, you will get less units.
Isko kehte hain ‘Rupee Cost Averaging’.
“SIP = slow cooking + steady progress.”
Bunny: Achha, toh SIP boring hai… but safe hai.
Investing Uncle: Ohhh Yeah..!!
“Jaise daily 10,000 steps walk karne se health bann jaati hai.”
Bunny: Aur Lumpsum?
Investing Uncle:
Lumpsum matlab – ek hi baar mein full paisa mutual fund mein daal dena.
₹1 lakh, ₹5 lakh, ₹20 lakh – jitna bhi ho.
Ek hi baar mein, units are bought and investment is finished.
Bunny: Kab karte hain log Lumpsum?
Investing Uncle:
Jab:
Bonus aaya ho
FD mature ho
Zameen bechi ho
Kahi se paisa mila ho
Jinki salaried job nahi hoti
Maybe businessman or freelancer
Aur sabse important: “Jab tumhe confidence ho ki market sasta hai ya tumhara investment horizon long-term ho, mere hisaab se minimum 5-7 years of investment horizon is a must.
Bunny: Par Uncle… galat time pe daal diya toh?
Investing Uncle: Toh dil bhi jalega aur paisa bhi.
Lumpsum sahi hota hai, lekin timing galat ho gaya toh short-term mein dard hota hai. But Long-Term me problem nahi hoti.
Bunny: Toh SIP is better?
Investing Uncle:
It depends upon the situation.
SIP best hai jab:
Regular income ho
Investor me Discipline ho
Market timing karne ki Ego na ho
Lumpsum best hai jab:
Extra paisa mila ho
Investor ko thoda experience ho
Ya market gira ho aur investor ko confidence ho
Bunny: Toh dono ka apna role hai?
Investing Uncle:
Bilkul!
“SIP is your gym membership.
Lumpsum is your protein shake.”
Ek se habit banti hai.
Dusre se boost milta hai.
Bunny: Uncle, any final wisdom words?
Investing Uncle:
“Tumhara paisa mehnat se kamaya hua hai.
SIP se aadat banao,
Stock market neeche ho to, Lumpsum se investment kar sakte ho agar confidence hai to.
Aur decision tab lena jab dimaag thanda ho, Josh me Hosh nahi khona”
